Family in theme park

Sometimes while on holiday, all you want is some all-round, definitive fun.

If you’re visiting the Park Grand London Hyde Park with family or friends, you’ll have plenty of chances to see first-hand the vibrancy and allure of London, just by stepping out of our front door. With Hyde Park just around the corner and a whole host of centrally located events taking place weekly, you’ll be in the perfect position to fully immerse yourself in the wonders of London.

That being said, visiting the city as a group can mean having to compromise.

Fun for all

Not all age groups will enjoy that museum or this art gallery, often leading to conflicts of interest on what should be a fun family holiday. That’s why during your stay at the Park Grand Hotels in London, you’ll want to factor in some fun that everyone can take part in.

With London being a hot spot for entertainment and tourism, this shouldn’t be too hard. Dotted across the city and beyond, you’ll find a whole host of amazing amusement parks and themed attractions that truly have something for everyone.

Below are some of the top attractions for families in and around the city, bringing your favourite characters from film and television together with amusements and thrills and promising a great day out for all ages!

Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park is one of the most popular theme parks in the UK. Based in the Chertsey area, the theme park is just an hour drive from West London and offers thrills accessible for all ages. With attractions such as Stealth, a jolt of a roller coaster reaching 80 miles per hour in 2 seconds, older kids and adults will have plenty to look forward to, whilst the water slides, speed swings and various fairground rides will keep younger children entertained.

Chessington World of Adventures

Another West London gem, Chessington is a little closer to the city centre, making it a lightning-quick train journey from the centre of the city.

With giddy roller coasters such as the Vampire swooping across the skyline of this beautifully laid out park, Chessington is an accessible theme park which puts family first. With 10 zones filled with unique attractions, you and your family will be able to swim, fly and jump into over 40 rides.

Don’t miss the adjoining Chessington Zoo, which holds over 1,000 animals.

Legoland Windsor

Legoland Windsor has really clocked onto what makes Lego so much fun. With the quirky range of rides, including comedic log flume Pirate Falls and thrilling adventure coaster the Dragon Knight, you’ll see adults and children alike enjoying the pocket-sized build it yourself park.

Don’t miss the Legoland Maze and the model villages, the latter of which lovingly recreates many famous landmarks from across the world using – you guessed it – Lego!

Warner Brothers Harry Potter Tour

A few years ago the Warner Brothers Studio in the film production hub of Leavesden opened up a studio focused on the boy wizard. Since then, countless Potter fans have been flocking to the studio, where they can find in-depth insight into the films costumes, sets and filming process.

From green screen Quidditch games to (non-alcoholic) Butterbeer, the Harry Potter Tour gives you a chance to immerse yourself in JK Rowling’s magical creation.

KidZania

Based in Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd’s Bush, KidZania is a child-friendly activity zone which gives kids the chance to dive right into the adult world in a safe and fun way. With up to 60 different professions to role play in, KidZania offers up child-sized shops, theatres and police stations, ensuring the opportunity to learn team building, financial literacy and a whole host of other skills useful to the real adult world. If nothing more, it’s always adorable to see your kids play adult, and KidZania will give you plenty of time to relax and watch as your kids do the heavy lifting.

London Dungeons

The London Dungeons recently moved to a new site on the South Bank (not far at all from Park Grand Hotels in London!) and offers tourists a chance to explore the grisly side of London’s history.

With its 18 interactive shows and 20 macabre theatre actors, you’ll be guided through London’s 1,000 year history, encountering Jack the Ripper, the Black Plague and many other heart-stopping moments from the city’s history.

Bit. with its stomach-churning Tyrant Boat Ride and medieval torture chamber, this isn’t one for young children or the faint of heart.

London Bridge Experience

A multisensory historic trip, the London Bridge Experience takes you by the hand on a journey through the ages. With its focus on the oldest bridge in the city, the London Bridge Experience is another actor-led historic adventure, bringing you face-to-face with Roman soldiers and the barbarian hordes of rebel queen Boudica.

With its focus on the grizzly, this again is less suitable for more sensitive children. Enter the bridge at your own peril!

Shrek’s Adventure

One of the most loved animated characters of recent years, Shrek has come to London with an interactive adventure on the banks of the Thames.

Join Donkey as your guide on a mission to find the missing Shrek, bringing you face to face with some of your favourite Shrek characters, including the Gingerbread Man and Rumplestiltskin. Traverse 10 different sets, including a mirror maze and Shrek’s Swamp and put an ogreish smile on the faces of all ages.

Sealife Centre

Also located on the South Bank, the Sea Life Centre is one of the most popular spots in the city, giving you access to hundreds of species of fish. From sharks to clownfish, all ages will no doubt learn something new about our neighbours in the sea.

With many London hotels special offers giving discounted entry to the Sealife Centre this summer, you’ll be able to dive right in for an even better value.

Go Ape Trent Park

Unless you suffer from vertigo, this adventure park will leave you giddy with the heights of the forest canopy. You’ll be balancing, climbing and ziplining for an up to 3-hour long course and what’s more, only a 10-minute walk from Cockfosters Tube Station!

With so many family-friendly attractions to add to your London bucket list, you’d better start ticking them off now! Book your room at Park Grand London Hyde Park or at another one of our locations throughout the city.
