Description of the Event: The BBC Proms is the world’s largest festival of classical music, with over 90 concerts staged, featuring internationally renowned musicians, world premieres and well-loved classics. This feast of music has something for everyone; opening with a night of all-British music in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee and culminating in a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony on the opening night of the Games.
Last Night of the Proms 2013: This event took place in Hyde Park where British pop legend Bryan Ferry headed a spectacular line-up including world- famous tenor Joseph Calleja, with Proms in the Park favourites, the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Richard Balcombe. Violin virtuoso Nigel Kennedy also made an appearance on the Hyde Park Stage before hot-footing it to appear at the Last Night of the Proms in the Royal Albert Hall on the same night. Sir Terry Wogan presented the festivities and Dame Edna Everage led the traditional sing-a-long.
